Latest news from Cordoba
11 September 2025
We’ve been back in Cordoba for a month now and it has been a slow run in, with a lot of people just returning to the city due to the heat (it’s still reaching mid 30s most of this week and some of next week).
Before the programme fully kicks off in October, we have a meal this weekend to say thank you to all the people who looked after Christine’s parents whilst we were on sabbatical, an English evening next Friday 19th (with people desperate to come to our house and practice English) and an open meal on Friday 26th where we will invite most people who we have had deeper contact, before we start the Story of God on Friday October 9th.
We will be meeting every second Friday of the month so feel to put the dates down to pray for us. This year we are really hoping and praying that some people make a clear commitment to trust in Jesus.
We came back from our sabbatical refreshed personally but also with some thoughts about how to grow things more this year, which included more groups. Unfortunately, we saw Rodrigo and Vania last week and they told us that they need to take a break from ministry at the moment. These past 3 years, they have had to work more and more on their hotel work for Brazil and are physically, mentally and emotionally exhausted, so will be taking a pause in ministry, so they can have the head space to try to get their visas and residency cards fully working.
It is an exhausting process (that we have to start again with Christine’s parents this month) even when things work well, but in their case it has been 15 years since the first time they moved to Spain and things have been complicated every time. We are not always sure why God allows some hardships, but we know he always uses them to grow us and for his glory, so we cling to him in these tough times. Please pray for them and their children (Lucas and Thomas) and also for us as we seek to keep moving forwards, but without their support at the moment.
Please also continue to pray for Esther who is continuing to struggle with health issues. The medicine she is currently taking makes the stomach pain and nausea more bearable (although still very difficult some days) even though this can't be a long term solution but the strange pulse rates that go from very low to very high for no obvious reasons and the frequent expected fainting makes life very difficult and quite scary at times especially trying to hold down a job so please pray that the doctors she speaks with will get her the different tests she needs in order to get to a diagnosis as this has been going on for 15 months now and some days she struggles to cope just "living".
Joel continues to be doing really well. He continues to work for the church in Reading running the students and young adults work amongst other things. This October he'll be overseeing the starting of a new evening service in a different location so please pray for wisdom for him in that new adventure.
With love in Jesus,
Terry and Cristina.
