Yesterday I (Terry) was in A&E with Cristina's parents as Cristina's dad has had digestive problems for over 2 weeks. After blood tests, X-Rays and a CAT scan, they told us that Peter's tumour has grown again, affecting his intestines. They have now said that he will not receive any treatment other than palliative care from now on. They transferred him to another hospital (where he has stayed a number of times) initially to the oncology ward, but today they moved him to the urology ward.
It's been hard news to take for all the family and we are all trying to adjust our expectations and take things one day at a time, but we give thanks to God for the team in the hospital.
We are hoping Peter will be allowed to come home at the end of this week or early next week and the medical team will work towards providing all the medical care he may need at home as well as in the hospital (where he will have a private room with a second bed for Sue to sleep in and no restrictions on visitors).
We know that Peter's decline will impact all of our lives practically as well as emotionally and we ask for your continued prayers as we adapt to the new reality.
Many of you will have been through similar situations and can testify to God's faithfulness in those painful moments. Please join us in thanking God for these 4 years we have been able to be close to Peter and for the opportunity to support him and Sue closely now. Please also pray for how we work out the practical implications to our ministry commitments during this intense family time.
With love in Jesus,
Terry, Cristina, Peter and Sue.
